Sunday happiness: oatmeal bread

I rediscovered the recipe for this oatmeal bread in my mom's recipe book, while recently hunting down another forgotten-and-remembered recipe (chewy chocolate cookies, hereby known as Fucking Amazing Cookies). And then I couldn't stop thinking about it. I seem to recall we used to make this bread fairly often, especially in the winter, and it was always very good.

Well, my memory did not fail me, and this bread was even better than I remembered. The dough was soft and airy, light and pliable. I baked half the dough in loaf pans and put the rest in slightly unprofessional free-form loaves on a cookie sheet. Both were excellent baking choices, and differed only in their size and form. The baked bread had a crusty crust and soft inside, that was neither too toothy, nor too fine.
